Happy St. Patrick's Day. On this day, everybody claims to be a little bit Irish. Except us Italians. We're still Italian and we're the first ones to tell you St. Patrick was Italian.
Here in Ohio, it's a beautiful day with sunshine, blue skies, and a 70 degree temperature. This is unusual. We are used to our annual St. Patrick's Day snowstorm.
The world is not feeling so celebratory this year. Even though most covid restrictions have been lifted and St. Patrick's Day parades and parties have been canceled for the last two years, people are not out partying here in the Midwest. Maybe more important than going out for a drink or two in a snazzy green outfit is staying close to those we love and telling them we love them. It is really hard to feel celebratory when there is so much pain and discord in our world, when photos of bombed maternity hospitals and children's shelters are all over the news. In war, there are no winners.
Here is hoping this is all over soon with no more deaths and destruction. Let's hope civilized people can sit down at the table and talk peace.
Thank you for stopping by to see if I am still alive and writing away. So far, so good.
Stay safe,
Carol
