Dear Gentle Readers,
I first discovered the work of Martin Saldaña while on vacation in Colorado Springs, CO, at the art museum there.
Look at this one. Will you ever look at Blue Boy the same way?
Martin Saldaña was a cook at a well-known restaurant in Denver when he got an invitation to an art lesson at the museum, by accident.
At the age of 76, he was immediately taken with the idea of painting scenes from him childhood village in Mexico.
He worked daily, completing a new painting every three days. His work has been called sweet, playful, naive, and endearing, but however you describe it, it has a happy quality to it.
I hope you like them, too.
