Dear Gentle Readers,
It's that time of year again. Everybody's making resolutions for the new year, only to be forgotten in six weeks or less. And they are basically the same resolutions over and over again. Lose weight. Get organized. Declutter. Get healthy. Those are all good goals. So why do we fail?
Here is what I've observed. Observation Numer One: We want to be slim, healthy, organized people, but only if it's very easy and convenient. We'll eat hummus and baby carrots and finish the meal off with coffee and cookies. We want neat designer closets, but we don't want to give up our old comfortable stuff. Resolutions rarely work.
Observation Number Two: If you are doing something that you love, if you have the energy to do your job and take care of your loved ones, and if you show up decently dressed to all occassions outside of your home, you don't need to make any New Years Resolutions! You are doing well enough. Congratulations.
