Dear Gentle Readers,
Can you believe half of 2014 is over? July here is a month of festivities. Niles just finished the Harry B. Stephens city-wide hot dog party, complete with weiner dog races, and we are looking forward to celebrating the Fourth of July. That is followed by the Mt. Carmel Festival, which is the food feast of the summer. Spinach pizza, potato pizza, hot sausage sandwiches, cheese puffs, cavatelli, and twists just to name a few. The grounds are jammed with people hungry for those Italian favorites and you see people you haven't seen in years. The Mt. Carmel festival is followed by the Trumbull County Fair, unfortunately known for rain and mud. The displays and animals are always a big draw, but the weather rarely cooperates. The Greek Festival is next with sunny days and the best baklava this side of Greece. I would name my other favorites, but I cannot spell them. If you go, try the spinach thing and the cheese one. Just point and they will know what you want.
Happy July! Make every day count. Be grateful for the sunshine, the blue sky, the beautiful landscape.
