Dear Gentle Readers,
Yesterday I gave you my Dad's dirt recipe for container gardening. Today I want to share another quick, easy, but messy tip.
Before you plant your container garden, assemble the plants and check to see they all share the same needs as to sunlight and water. Then, remove them from their plastic pots and soak them in a bucket of water for at least an hour.
Then plant them in their new home and water them. Because the leaves are wet, do not put the container in full sun or the leaves will burn. This is best done early in the morning or in early evening, but can be done in the sunshine if cover is provided. I have been know to stick an umbrella in the pot.
